DisneyScrappers

Ok so I know we have shared where we work before but we have been talking about cleaning up our spaces and I think we might need to inspire each other and share organization tips. I know Tami has been watching episodes of Horders while cleaning and that is a great idea!

So what inspires you to clean? How do you keep it clean? and do you have any great tips for organization? Do you throw things away or donate? how do you decide what to keep and what to get rid of? it's all so difficult.

I have been working on my room for about 2 weeks on and off. It looks good enough for photos now so I am sharing LOL! But as you can see there is still a problem area in the 3rd photo. I am having trouble finding places for little things that I know I will forget about if I put them away too deep. Also my closet, although organized, is packed so tight I cant get things out. One new addition in my space is a little white shelf that you might see above my desk in the corner. I found it in my bedroom closet and put it here to hold mists - now maybe I will use them.

WOW! Your space looks GREAT! You must have been seriously busy in there. I'd have to spend hours just to see the bottom of my desk! lol

yep, thats pretty much how I was feeling and I just couldn't create. I normally clean my desk space each time I do a layout but I need to take the time to clean up whatever I put on the floor, and put the embellishments back on the lamp organizer instead of just tossing them back next to it. LOL
love it Susan, love the green on the walls :)
Well this is my Scraproom so far, still need to do more organizing.Just got my scraproom in May.

After I get done with a page, I simply cannot start another page until my scraproom/office is clean. This includes dusting, vacuuming, etc. I cannot create in a cluttery and/or dirty space, and since i have three dogs that hang out with me in here (and shed alot), I have to vacuum and clean up daily so that nothing ends up on the floor that they could chew on. I also just can't focus on my projects with other stuff lying around out of place begging to be put away. When we built our current house, I was the general contractor, so I built my office exactly the way I wanted it. I just wish there were about 60 more square feet in here!!! All of the lower cabinets were custom designed to hold Cropper Hopper hanging file folders for my 12x12 papers. There are 8 of those drawers that are two feet deep each to hold the hanging files, and they are all quite full. :) I have two doors into my office. One is a french door that is right off the entry way, and the other is a pocket door that goes into the kitchen, so when I decide to build onto the house to make a bigger office in the near future, this room will easily become the dining room (after I rip the cabinets out and move them to the new room). :) It was a bit of a challenge designing the room to accomodate two doors as well as a giant front window and still feel like I had adequate wall space for storage. The pic below is of my main work area. This wall is 10 ft long and the desk is counter height because I like to use a drafting chair or stand while I work on pages. The large board above my work desk is piece of galvanized metal that I framed and I use magnets to hold misc products.

Another pic of my work desk. This is the left side. This is where I keep solid cardstock, and jars full of ribbon and flowers separated by color. The iris cart in the photo holds decorative edge scissors, cutting tools, adhesive, etc.

This next photo is my stamp/ink/punches/misc 8 ft tall cabinet. It hold just about everything that does not fit somewhere else. To the left of this cabinet you can see the door that leads into the entry way (still need to paint the transom trim) and to the right of the black iris carts is the door into the kitchen (not pictured). Hardwood floors are best for rolling around in a drafting chair. :) The iris carts hold all of my paint as well as gift ags, tissue paper, and jewelry making stuff. The white tilt-out bins hold alot of little trinket stuff- brads, gems, tags, more brads, lots of Tim Holtz little metal stuff.

Below is the open cabinet with inks, stamps, punches, fibers, buttons, and other misc. stuff. Window wall and small bookcase that holds misc stuff as well as my homemade lamp shade wire "clip-it-up".

Below is my computer/electronics desk where my printer, scanner, and pazzles cutter are located. I use a laptop, so I can move it over to my work counter when I am skyping and scrapping with Suz or other friends. The desk below is all business, so nothing but office supplies in these drawers.

Close-up pic of one of my 8 file drawers. Seriously the best investement I ever made.

well, that's pretty much it!!!

Joann, you officially have the hottest scraproom! lol LOVE your neat space and your hot pirate. The little button jars are quite nice too :)

Nancy - Its hard to be your friend when your room looks like this. I think its the amazing treatment you did to the drawers and the whole customized design that kills me. I couldn't keep my papers in hang files though. i have tried that and it just doesn't work for me. Yours looks great. I just dont know how you can work with your computer all the way across the room.

I should vacuum and dust every time I finish something because of cat hair but thats just not going to happen. I do use a wet wipe on my whole desk because of Figaro hair. Right now I am having cat issues on my desk that will take more than a wet wipe though....

My space(s) I should use plural as I have two rooms and they are both a sight for sore eyes.  I'll be watching here as I really need to organize, purge and utilize only one room.  My son is asking for the spare bedroom now so it is time to do an overhaul.

LOL about the comment regarding Horders.  After watching that show, I went on a cleaning spree too.  Talk about something to motivate you :)

Fig is a NUT!!!! I can't believe that he sleeps right there! Is it because he just feels safe and secure being right next to you i wonder?

Your rooms are amazing, such big spaces, mine is tiny although I do spill out into the dinning room, I must admit I do like everything neat and tidy, hope this link works as I don' t have any recent pics My scrap room

Love all the rooms!  I am going to start working on getting mine back to being organized and get my pics posted.  Right now my biggest challenge is my brad storage.  I had seen a pic of someone who put all of theirs on squares of corkboard so they were out and easy to pull off but I can't seem to find thick enough cork.

Doreen, your space is so pretty! I love the light wood and your frames are so nice. One day I will get real furnature, but its not exactly a priority right now.
